Empowering individuals...
Evolving as a yoga teacher since 2010, into a Somatic Yoga & Breathwork Therapist has enabled me to merge my teaching skills into supporting clients with specific needs and goals combining skills from yoga, Buddhism, Psychotherapy and science.
The mind and body is not linear. It isn’t prescriptive.
It is unique, complex and often operates through adaptive and chaotic processes. My job is to support you in coming home to yourself, through non-judgemental, gentle, somatic focused work. It isn’t about fixing, it is about finding tools and new ways to approach the same issue. Understanding that healing is not an upward trajectory, but a titrated experience, aka baby steps. It is teaching the body to recalibrate to its own personal history, biology and environment.
and health professionals
My Yoga Therapy work has evolved into delivering lectures on Yoga Therapy for Menopause to health professionals as part of The Minded Institute’s Yoga Therapy Diploma and delivering standalone CPD courses. I love combining the scientific element of understanding what menopause is and the many facets that accompany it, and then applying that knowledge through embodied practices and how we can support our clients. If you are a health professional interested in Menopause Training, please sign up to The Minded Institute newsletter for information on their CPD courses.
Me
I’m not a stranger to anxiety. From exhibiting elements of OCD from a young age, to experiencing social anxiety in my late 20s, and then managing the break down of a 10 year relationship in my mid 30s with our young daughter in the middle, my purely physical practice of yoga began to transform into something more embodied and intuitive and over time I realised the power of nervous system regulation.
And then I hit perimenopause and I spent most of 2024 feeling stuck, lost, disempowered, lacking purpose and energy to make any changes. Home life had many challenges, and my ability to show up every day was being tested. Chaotic hormonal changes compounded everything, affecting every negative thought, feeling, reaction and therefore relationships, especially at home. I couldn’t figure out how to break free from the chains of ‘stuckness’. Eventually, my sister, with firm words filled with love, redirected my compass and my energies with small, achieveable goals.
Reintroducing direction, focus and engagement with life has been empowering. Mindfulness and breathing practices are a non-negotiable and integral part of supporting my growth in both home life and business. Moving and checking in with my body is paramount to releasing physical tension and managing the mental busyness and self-doubt. When these practices fall by the wayside, so do I.
The challenges have not gone away, but my mindset has changed. And this is where growth happens.
Part of the therapeutic process is personal growth. For over a decade seeing clients grow and evolve is incredily rewarding and this has been achieved through embodied movement, pranayama/breathwork, meditation and mindfulness. Building an interoceptive and embodied practice helps us heal and recover from our own personal stories from the inside out.
Learning to self-regulate is the most powerful tool to create safety and ease in our body.
Become body-centred and come home to self
Breathe in, ‘I have arrived’, breathe out, ‘I am home’.
